Presentation Descriptions

8:50 – Joe Duffy, CFA – Harbor Funds Distributors
Title: Activating International Equities

Investors tend to be biased toward their home markets and the stretch of outperformance of U.S. equities has amplified this bias for many. Based on aggregate assets in U.S. mutual funds and ETFs, the average U.S. investor allocates just a quarter of his/her portfolio to international markets, which is far less than their percentage in the global economy and stock market.  Some investors believe that international stocks carry greater risk than U.S. stocks, and that a portfolio of solely U.S. stocks offers enough diversification. These misconceptions may lead investors to miss out on key benefits offered by non-U.S. equities.

Join Joe Duffy for a robust discussion and actionable insights that will help you dispel common misconceptions on international investing your clients might have and how to explain the income and diversification advantages of international investing.

9:55 – Justin Murphy – Foundation Source
Title: Private Foundations and Donor-Advised Funds – Helping your Clients Choose the Right Charitable Vehicle

Both private foundations and donor-advised funds are effective charitable giving vehicles, yet they offer different levels of control, authority, and philanthropic versatility.

This presentation discusses the structure and merits of each vehicle with respect to tax treatment as well as grantmaking, legacy, organizational and investment considerations.  It also provides guidelines as to when each vehicle (or both) is the best option for donors.

Participants will learn about:

  • Discuss the structure and merits of each vehicle.
  • Identify the legacy, grantmaking, tax treatment, investment, and organizational considerations.
  • Evaluate the best option for the donor: donor advised funds (DAF), private foundations, or both.

11:10 – Jacob Coley, Sally Klarr & Joe Stanfield – Hindman Auctions
Title: How to Protect and Preserve Your Collection

As financial planners you help your clients preserve their intangible assets.  During this presentation the panelist will offer advice on how to protect your client’s tangibles. Join the Fine Art, Jewelry, and Decorative Arts Specialists for insights on how you and your clients can best protect their valuable objects.

12:20 – Donald Trippie & Melody Soleski – WPS Health Insurance
Medicare - What You Need to Know

We will discuss the differences between Medicare part A and Part B, Medicare part C and Supplements, go into prescription drug plans, and finally talk about how someone gets started with Medicare

  • Explain the difference between Medicare parts A & B
  • Explain the difference between Medicare part C and Medicare Supplements
