Presentation Descriptions
1:00 – David Polak – American Funds by Capital Group
The future of ESG
Environmental, social and governance factors are increasingly important to investors and financial professionals. What’s next for ESG issues and trends in the industry? How can financial professionals track and monitor the ESG bona fides of their investments? How can professionals evaluate and select funds with strong ESG credentials? How can advisors tell the difference between ESG as a marketing gimmick and ESG as a legitimate approach?
We identify specific strategies for preparing portfolios for the future. We also offer guidance for how advisors can work with clients to help them navigate the changing ESG landscape and keep them focused on their long-term plans. Join David to dig into this important topic.
2:05 – Timothy Maynard & Gregory Stratz – Hawks Quindel, S.C.
Navigating Client Employment Transitions
When a client’s career changes, it can cause seismic shifts in their financial planning and well-being that can take years to recover from. However, a thorough understanding of that person’s workplace rights and benefits can mitigate the financial impact of career transitions. Hawks Quindel, S.C. is a Wisconsin law firm dedicated to workers’ rights and two of its attorneys, Timothy P. Maynard and Gregory P. Stratz, will provide some basic insights into workplace rights to help ensure that your clients’ financial goals remain on course even as their career paths change.
3:10 – Jeffrey Haskell – Foundation Source
Impact Investing: How Savvy Foundations Maximize Impact & Tax Benefits
Giving money away isn’t the only means to generating a positive social outcome. Impact investing enables private foundations to put their endowment assets to work on behalf of their missions as well.
Jeffrey Haskell will explain the two primary ways in which private foundations may engage in impact investing: program-related investments (PRIs) and mission-related investments (MRIs). He will discuss how to identify and differentiate the two and how to coordinate them with other private foundation rules.
Additionally, Mr. Haskell will touch upon some of the legal forms being used to attract funding for PRIs, as well as the consequences of a failed PRI. Participants will also gain an understanding of how PRIs and MRIs can impact a private foundation.
